National Debtline provides a range of information and resources on their website to help people in debt. You can:
- Download an information pack to deal with your debt problems
- Use a personal budget sheet to work out what repayments you can afford
- Use sample letters to write to your creditors (the people that you owe money to)
- Visit National Debtline's debt advice section to get information that may help you deal with your debt problem
- Access a range of factsheets giving debt advice
- See if you can pay your debts via a Debt Management Plan (DMP)
- See the frequently asked questions to see if there is an answer relevant to you.
National Debtline always encourage people to seek advice as well as getting information from their website.
On request National Debtline will send out paper copies of the information on their website.
National Debtline is a free, confidential and independent telephone helpline for people with debt problems. Following specialist telephone advice callers receive written self help materials.
People seeking email advice can complete a short online enquiry form and a money adviser will make email contact with them usually within seven days.

Citizens Advice Bureau
The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) provide a range of sources of information and advice on their website.
You can:
- Download their debt advice factsheets
- Take the financial healthcheck to find out how healthy your finances are and get some tips for a healthier financial lifestyle
- Take the debt test to help you find out whether you have, or are likely to have, problems with your borrowing
- Read one of the credit and debt factsheets for advice which includes amongst others sample debt letters and a budget sheet for you to use.
The Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, confidential and independent advice. Advice is available face-to-face and by telephone. Most CAB offer home visits and some also provide email advice.

Financial Ombudsman Service
The Financial Ombudsman Service can look into disputes and provide resolution to them. They cover a range of areas including consumer credit, inappropriate lending and debt collection practices, and insurance issues such as a failure to pay out under redundancy insurance.
