What is Warrington Carers Strategy 2007-2010?

Warrington Carers Strategy is a plan of action for supporting carers in Warrington over the next three years.

There are already many good services and support networks for carers in Warrington. The Carers Strategy builds on this good work by outlining a vision and eight priority areas that local organisations need to work on together to continue to improve the situation for carers.

The Carers Strategy was drawn up by the main groups and organisations in Warrington that offer support to carers. But most importantly it is based on the ideas and views of carers themselves. It was written after talking to and involving a large number of local carers.

What is our vision for carers in Warrington?

Our vision is

"To make a positive difference to, and improve the quality of life for carers in Warrington".

What are our priorities and how will we meet them?

Through talking to carers we have come up with eight key priority areas that will help us to achieve our vision for carers in Warrington. They are:

Giving a voice to carers
Identifying carers and assessing their needs
Providing information for carers
Health and well being of carers
Training and employment, social and leisure opportunities for carers
Breaks from caring
Young carers
Carers from black and minority ethnic groups

We have created an action plan for each of these priority areas to make sure that we continue to make progress. This action plan will be reviewed by a Carers Partnership Board, made up of carers themselves and senior managers from the organisations who support carers in Warrington. The Carers Partnership Board will produce a report every year explaining what we have done to meet these priorities and achieve our vision.
