Putting people first

The government recognises that people who use social care services want to have more control over their own lives. People want to be more involved in their assessments, they want to be able to manage their own personal budgets, plan their own support and choose the types of services they receive. To achieve this we need to transform our adult social care services.

Like all councils across the country, Warrington will be introducing a host of changes over the next two years to improve the way we look after our residents, putting people's dignity, choice and control at the heart of our care and support services.

The changes will not only improve services for older people, people with physical and sensory disabilities, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health needs, but for the wider community too.

Residents in Warrington will be encouraged and helped to match their support to their needs, with a much more personal approach to care.

We will be working with people who use services, their families and carers and our partners to make sure we get things right and make a real difference to people's lives.

How the council would like to see services look in future

How could the new approach help someone who uses services?

What are the next steps?
