Apprenticeships are in many ways 'living' frameworks for individuals to demonstrate competence. The 'living' part means that they change as industry changes and job roles/requirements change.
These apprenticeships are aimed primarily at 16 to 18 year olds but are increasingly being taken up by young people in the 19 - 25 year age group.
Key elements to apprenticeships are:
- Demonstrable competencies at work to NVQ levels 2, 3 and above
- Ensuring that all apprentices achieve a minimum standard in Key Skills including numeracy and communication
- Opportunities for all apprentices to obtain the other essential occupational skills relevant to their job and required by their employing sector
- Achivement of Apprenticeship frameworks
