DCSF Vetting and Barring Scheme
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) implemented a new Vetting and Barring Scheme in autumn 2008 for staff who work with access to children and vulnerable adults. They compiled the List 99, Protection of Children Act List and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults List into one. If a person is suitable to work with children or vulnerable adults and is not barred on the above lists they can apply to be a member of the scheme.
Staff will need to be a member of the Vetting and Barring Scheme to be employed by Warrington Borough Council in positions with access to children or vulnerable adults as laid out in the scheme criteria. It will be a criminal offence for a person who is not a member to be employed in a position with access to children or vulnerable adults.
