What is community asset transfer?
Community asset transfer (CAT) is the process whereby management of land or buildings are transferred from the council’s ownership to voluntary and community sector organisations or social enterprise.
Managing and taking charge of the day to day running of these facilities helps to empower local communities and can bring opportunities for greater independence and financial sustainability. When done well, CAT can create lasting change in local neighbourhoods.
Warrington Borough Council is fully committed to using council assets to form long-term partnerships with suitable voluntary sector organisations, in order to create stronger, more cohesive and more sustainable communities.
The consultation for the CAT policy ended on Friday 24 February, thank you to everybody that took part.
The findings from the consultation are currently being reviewed and will be considered by the council's Executive Board in March. Feedback from the consultation will be available on this page in April alongside the final policy document and toolkit.
