iCAN is the messaging system set up by the trading standards team and is for anybody living and working in the Warrington community who would like to be made aware of consumer protection issues such as:
- rogue doorstep traders

- anti-social behaviour
- doorstep crime
- car crime
- distraction burglary
- pick pocketing
- scams.
iCAN is also available outside Warrington as the information may be cross-authority. The system is intended to communicate information quickly and accurately therefore improving protection. The primary benefit of the project is to the residents of Warrington but in addition partner organisations have the potential to benefit by working in a more focused way around certain consumer issues using the iCAN intelligence.
There are now around 2000 members of iCAN.
Members are encouraged to be mindful of vulnerable people and iCAN works with other council services and external partners to further protect vulnerable people. Local businesses are registered with the network as well as some residential care homes. iCAN messages are also briefed out to domiciliary care providers via adult social services.
