Statutory Assessment Advisory Group (STAG)

The Statutory Assessment Advisory Group (STAG) makes recommendations to the Council about statutory assessments for Warrington children with Special Needs. The group also considers requests for care or learning access support planning (CLASP)  funding. Members of STAG come from schools and the local authority.

Each meeting is in two parts. In the first part the group discusses submissions for CLASP funding  In the second it discusses requests for statutory assessment.

Warrington schools formally ask the group for a statutory assessment by making a submission to STAG. Parents can also ask STAG for a statutory assessment, by making a parental submission. This should be sent in by the submission date, usually two weeks before the next meeting.

STAG makes a recommendation about every submission it has discussed. Schools and parents are told the decisions made. If a request has been turned down, we will say what the reasons are for this.  At the same time we tell parents about how they have a right to appeal to the special educational needs and disability tribunal.
