Partnerships and resources

Much of the council’s work is commissioned or done by working in partnership with organisations such as the NHS, voluntary / charity organisations, schools, other local authorities, the police and many more.

One of the aims of the Partnerships and Resources department is to improve the way that these partnerships work together so that children and young people can reach their potential.

The department also:

  • makes sure that the council gets the best value for money for any services that are commissioned (bought in from another organisation).
  • makes sure that council’s ‘assets’ such as school buildings, youth clubs and children’s centres to ensure they are well maintained, further developed, and used to the best of their ability.
  • supports the education transformation agenda through the delivery of major capital programmes, school places, admission arrangements, school transport and the school meals service.
  • is also responsible for the delivery of the joint Warrington and Halton youth offending service; and
  • provides a range of support services to other parts of the directorate.

The three overall divisions of Partnerships and Resources are:

  • Commissioning
  • Access and assets
  • Halton and Warrington Youth Offending Team (YOT)
