Download the WWW leaflet 2011.pdf

The Watt Watchers sessions will be aimed at primary school pupils and will include the presentation used in previous years with the addition of a new activity of building a solar powered robot.  This will be carried out by the children during the session.

Over 1300 primary school children became Environment Agents for WWW in 2010 / 2011 and the ‘Agents’ from Bradshaw Primary School received their WWW  Eco Champion certificates from the Mayor of Warrington Cllr John Joyce at a presentation held at the school in April 2011.

WWW includes:

  • a one hour free talk on energy efficiency which will include an interactive experiment
  • free Watt Watchers energy survey forms for students
  • environment agent ID badges
  • www certificates signed by the Mayor and the Chief Executive of the council
  • a pdf of the WWW workbook which includes puzzles and quizzes is available to download below.

The project aims to:

  • encourage students to act locally and think globally about energy, where it comes from and how it is used in the home
  • explain in a simple way how energy is generated and how pollution affects the environment
  • raise awareness of energy efficiency
  • provide students with the knowledge to become environmental agents and encourage their families to reduce their carbon footprints and to be energy efficient in the home

The Challenge

Following the popularity of the WWW project the Challenge has been introduced as a revision session for those students who have already attended a WWW presentation.  Covering topics from the original project and including new experiments, students will be given the opportunity to debate energy efficiency issues following a new PowerPoint presentation including:

  • sustainable energy
  • the consequences of fossil fuels
  • global dimming

and asks the question: 'How does our lifestyle affect those who share our planet?'
