Closing the gap

The Closing the Gap programme brings together all public service providers in Warrington with the aim of:

  • getting local people healthier and more active
  • reducing child poverty in the area
  • providing good, affordable homes
  • getting more people into employment or training
  • building safer and stronger neighbourhoods

It does not aim to rewrite or replace the longstanding strategies already in place eg. children and young people's plan or the Warrington regeneration framework, but rather provides a wider context for this work - there are clear links between each of the above areas.

21 main factors have been identified for immediate and sustained action to help improve the lives of all who live in Warrington. The council, police, NHS and others will therefore be working closer than ever to deliver change. All partners are confident that this innovative way of joined working will deliver results and focus resources on the areas of greatest need.

Closing the Gap is a work in progress; it will not be completed in a set time frame but will be continuously updated and amended to meet the needs of the Warrington of tomorrow.

What makes Closing the Gap unique is the fact that all partners are committed to addressing these issues head on.
