Fairtrade - What can I do?

By supporting and promoting Fairtrade products and issues we can all do something practical, simple and positive to ensure that producers from developing countries receive a fair price for their goods and labour.

So how can I help?

  • Buy products which carry the FAIRTRADE Mark as part of your regular shopping. If you cannot find a fairly traded product that you want please ask – shops may be unaware of the demand for these items.
  • Buy Fairtrade refreshments such as tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and juice and locally produced milk for meetings that you organise or attend
  • Ask a favourite café or restaurant to switch to Fairtrade tea and coffee.  Let the steering group know so they can also encourage the business to swap email mmavis@aol.com.
  • Tell a friend or relative about Fairtrade
  • When buying clothes or trainers, ask the shop manager about the conditions for workers in the factories
  • Organise an event or stall to promote Fairtrade.  Support is available from Fair 4 All, Warrington Market 01925 415121
  • Choose a fairly traded craft item for the next gift that you buy
  • Find out about becoming a Fairtrade workplace, school or place of worship at www.fairtrade.org.uk.   For support, or when you receive your certificate, contact the steering group on 01925 634400 or email mmavis@oal.com.
  • Buy a "Warrington Fairtrade Borough" shopping bag and ‘flag up Fairtrade’ when you’re out and about!  Available in jute or cotton from Fair 4 All.
