Who looks after the roads and highways in and around Warrington?
Warrington Borough Council's highways team is responsible for maintaining all public roads and highways across the borough except for motorways and trunk roads. These roads are essential to its residents, businesses and visitors, and require regular and careful maintenance.
Why is road maintenance important?
Above all, safety. Badly maintained roads may result in more accidents and more injuries to drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
Another factor is cost. By carrying out regular and careful maintenance it means that roads and pavements are less likely to need major rebuilding. Therefore the overall cost of keeping Warrington's roads in good condition is less, if we inspect and maintain them regularly.
Does the council monitor the condition of Warrington's roads and pavements?
A team of specialist engineers carries out regular inspections of all Warrington's roads and pavements – both as a matter of routine and in response to reports from members of the public.
