Roadworks

roadworks in actionTemporary traffic management measures such as road closures and traffic signals are often necessary as part of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Warrington's roads. Roadworks may be carried out by the council or by other organisations.

Monday 14 May - Road closure sewer collapse

The A56 in Stockton Heath, at its junction with the A49 has been closed to traffic heading out of Stockton Heath due to a United Utilities sewer collapse.

A signed diversion route will be in place which will direct traffic along the A49 Wilderspool Causeway to Brian Bevan Island and then along the A5060 Chester Road back to the A56.

The works should last for a maximum of five days.

Lingley Road Structural Maintenance

Major road works to resurface Lingley Road, from Liverpool Road to Park Road, are programmed to commence on 30 April 2012 and will take up to three weeks to complete.

Daily road closures between 8:30am and 4:30pm will be used to allow resurfacing of the roads. 

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during progress of the works.

A49 London Road, Stockton Heath and Appleton Structural Maintenace

Essential roadworks to resurface the A49 London Road will start on Monday 26 March and are expected to take about five weeks to complete.

From Sandy Lane / Orchard Street to Delphfields Road, past the London Bridge pub.

A49 Newton Road (South) Structural Maintenance


Structural maintenance works to commence along the dual carriageway section of the A49 between the roundabout at Winwick Link Road/Winwick Park Avenue and the roundabout at M62 Junction 9. Works to start on 16 April 2012 and will take approximately six weeks to complete.

Works will be carried out under lane closures daily between 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday, with all lanes open to traffic outside these times. There will also be a 20mph temporary speed limit in place for the duration of the works.

The right turn into Delph Lane from Newton Road, and the right turn into Newton Road from Delph Lane will also be closed during the working day, with the traffic diverted around the roundabouts at either end of the scheme.

Orford Road/Padgate Lane Notification of Highway Works


Work to start at the junction of Orford Road / Padgate Lane on 27 February and expected to take nine weeks to complete.  Upgrade of the existing traffic signal equipment involving new ducting, new kerbing, tactile paving and road markings. Also the introduction of an additional pedestrian crossing on the north west corner of Orford Road.

Works will be carried out under lane closures daily between 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday.

Kingsway South/Thelwall Lane Notification of Highway Works

Work to start at the junction of Kingsway South / Thelwall Lane on 27 February and expected to take 10 weeks to complete.  Upgrade of the existing traffic signal equipment involving new ducting, new kerbing, tactile paving, carriageway high friction surface dressing and road markings.

Works will be carried out under lane closures daily between 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday.  Some work to be carried out on Sunday to minimise disruption to motorists.

Park Road, Great Sankey and Lodge Drive, Culcheth - Structural Maintenance


Please find below details of the above highway scheme, which is currently out to tender.

The works are programmed to commence on 5 March 2012, and will take approximately five weeks to complete.

A scheme notification letter will be circulated to residents and businesses adjacent to the area of the works, and information boards will be erected on site prior to the start date.

To minimise inconvenience to residents and businesses roads will be closed in phases and reopened, to all traffic, at the end of each day. Works will be carried out between 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Structural Maintenance

The works are programmed to commence on 19 March 2012, and will take approximately six weeks to complete.

Scheme boards will be erected in advance of the works.

To minimise inconvenience to residents and businesses the road will be closed, east bound, to carry out the works and reopened, to all traffic, at the end of each day. Works will be carried out between 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
