A guide for organisers
Warrington Borough Council has established an Event Advisory Group (EAG) to ensure that public events on the highway and in public places can take place safely and successfully.
Through consultation and joint working between the council and its partners, its aim is to standardise the approach to all organised events staged in a public place or on the public highway in the borough of Warrington.
The council recognises that whilst public events can enhance community life, there is potential for risks to public safety and adverse environmental effects posed by the numbers of people attending such events unless proper management is in place.
This focused approach allows better planning and better understanding of
Roles and responsibilities, resulting in a process that facilitates the staging of public events in a safe environment.
If the event is on the public highway or public land, the responsibility for public safety rests with the organiser
What do I do if I want to hold an event ?
Event organises should make themselves aware of the information below and complete the event notification form.
The authority is here to assist you to make your event as safe as possible, to do this we need you to work with the authority to minimise any risk your event may present to your visitors.
The idea is not to discourage events in any way but to provide event organisers with support and advice to ensure that any events are carried out safely.
If your event is not on the highway or public area, but may have an impact on the highway, you should still use the event notification form.
