Local Development Scheme (2012)
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) describes what the council is going to do to prepare new and revised planning policies over the next three years. The three-year programme includes 'consultation milestones' to inform the public about opportunities to get involved with the plan-making process and to let them know the likely dates for involvement.
The revised (2012) version of the LDS updates the previous 2010 scheme to reflect progress against previous milestones and changes circumstances with regards to how the government now require Local Plans and policies to be prepared.
The LDS identifies that in Warrington progressing the Local Plan Core Strategy remains the priority, but that within the next 12 months work will also commence on preparing a Land Allocations Local Plan and Joint Waste Minerals Local Plan.
The revised (2012) Local Development Scheme was approved by the council's Executive Board at their meeting on 16 April 2012.

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment update
Warrington along with the neighbouring local planning authorities of Halton and St Helen's has commenced a 'call for sites' to identify land to be assessed through the 2012 update of the council's Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA).
In simple terms, the SHLAA is a way to identify and monitor current and future land availability with regards to accommodating new homes. Interested parties have until Friday 8 June 2012 in which to nominate land which they consider to have development potential.
More information on the SHLAA process including how you can nominate land or get involved can be accessed in the housing section of the Local Planning Framework evidence base webpages.
