Transport development control

The transport development control team are responsible for the following functions:

  • the analysis and assessment of the transportation infrastructure and highway safety impacts of applications made under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, including consideration of issues relating to walking, cycling, vehicular access, servicing and parking issues
  • managing the provision of highway and transportation advice on land use allocations and individual planning applications, to ensure the provision of an appropriate standard of transportation infrastructure to service new development
  • securing developer contributions for sustainable transport infrastructure and co-ordinating the implementation of developer funded schemes
  • providing pre-application transportation advice to developers in relation to forthcoming planning applications
  • presenting advice to the council's development control committee and preparing evidence and representing the Authority in connection with written representation appeals, informal hearings and public inquiries
  • managing and undertaking the negotiation of road layouts for new development and keeping under permanent review the Warrington design guide for residential and industrial estate roads.

Warrington design guide for residential and industrial estate roads

The Warrington design guide for residential and industrial estate roads contains the relevant planning and engineering standards that the council requires to be adopted in the design of new residential and industrial areas.

The guide provides technical design guidance in relation to highway design, the layout of junctions, designing for pedestrians, cyclists and the mobility impaired, and also contains details relating to relevant construction standards and the councils requirements in relation to street lighting and highway drainage.
